What Is Argon (TIG) Welding?
Argon welding, also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, is one of the most precise and refined welding techniques in the world of metalworking. This method makes it possible to create flawless and strong joints with the combination of a tungsten electrode and argon gas.
Argon welding is a welding method that works with tungsten electrodes and is carried out under the protective atmosphere of argon gas. The electrodes are made of tungsten, a metal with a high melting point. During welding, heat is generated between the parts to be welded. This heat does not melt the electrode but melts the material being welded, so that the parts are joined.
Argon gas is generally used to provide a protective atmosphere. This noble gas does not enter into chemical reaction, so it cleans and protects the weld zone. It optimizes ignition behavior, raises the stability of the arc, and provides a better cleaning action. Its high heat conduction also produces a wide and deep weld penetration.
